Sheer Terror - Just Can't Hate Enough

Sheer Terror were a NYC hardcore band that existed between 1984 and 1998. Always angry and confrontational, the band created a sound that's like being punched in the face by a guy wearing a leather jacket.

Conflict - It's Time to See Who's Who, Increase The Pressure & The Ungovernable Force

Conflict were a London Anarcho-punk band formed in 1981. The band held uncomprimising politics and proved to be one of the most important bands in the anarcho scene. By 1986 former Crass member Steve Ignorant had joined the group to contribute vocals, bringing more of the vitriol of his former band.

Descendents - Everything Sucks (+ Demos) and Cool To Be You

Some more Descendents albums now, I personally prefer their later ones (much less fart noises and gimmick songs). Everything Sucks came out in 1996 and Cool To Be You came out in 2004, both featuring slightly more mature songwriting but all of the energy of classic Descendents.

Descendents - Milo Goes To College + ALL

Okay the first is a classic pop punk album from '82 (I think). The eponymous Milo is the band's vocalist who was actually going off to college starting the first of the band's many hiatuses. Great fast fun record. The second was released in '87 and picks up from where the first left off. Many of the band also did some other cool stuff in music (apart from the original guitarist who became a fisherman, which is pretty cool too) so I'll label them up.

Dead Prez - Let's Get Free

Okay, this is our first rap/hip-hop post and how better to start it than with Dead Prez, the duo of stic.man and M-1. Mixing some fucking funky beats and basslines (I'm too white for this) and decent socio-political examinations of the world we live in, their debut album released in 2000 places their stance "somewhere between N.W.A. & P.E.".

Fucked Up - Hidden World & Chemistry of Common Life

Fucked Up are a brilliant experimental hardcore band from Canada. Since their inception they've pushed punk out of it's comfort zone and made these two awesome records. They're long, well written and unlike any punk you've heard before. Barked vocals musing on biblical themes and very grandiose but forceful and energetic instrumentals. Get these for the best in modern punk.

Career Suicide - Attempted Suicide

Career Suicide play fast, balls to the walls, no bullshit, tear yer face off hardcore punk n' roll. Guitarist Jonah Falco and former bassist Mike Haliechuk also play drums and guitar, respectively, in Fucked Up. They are good.

Born Against - Nine Patriotic Hymns For Children

Born Against were a late 80's/early 90's American hardcore band. They held very strong political and DIY beliefs and were very influential on the underground scene. Bassist Javier Villegas went on to join the metal band Kylesa.

The Iguanas - Jumpin' With...

"Jumpin' With The Iguanas" is a garage record more than punk but it's important because a) garage is awesome and b) fucking Iggy Pop's on it (and it's where he got his nickname from). Iggy plays drums on this and it's also a pretty good album. They play some of their own stuff and some garage staples (like "Twist and Shout", "California Sun", "Surfin' Bird" and, naturally, "Louie, Louie")
